Prerequisite Coursework Certification

This form is for individuals who must take certain coursework as a prerequisite for possible admission. It allows eligible students to receive Direct Loans while completing these required courses.

Use this form if...

You have completed the following requirements:

  • You have been informed by an admissions counselor or academic advisor that you must complete prerequisite coursework for possible admission.
  • You have an official, current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the Office of Student Finance (OSF).
  • You are enrolled at least half time (6 credits) in required prerequisite undergraduate courses at the University of Minnesota each term.

Don't use this form if...

  • You do not need to complete prerequisite coursework for admission.
  • You do not plan to enroll at least half-time (6 credits) in required undergraduate coursework at the University of Minnesota during the terms for which you are requesting aid for.
  • You have not yet submitted the applicable aid years FAFSA.
  • You have already used your prerequisite coursework financial aid eligibility.
