The Minnesota State Grant helps students from low and moderate income families pay for college. To be considered for this grant, you must be a Minnesota resident pursuing your first undergraduate certificate or degree.

Application deadlines
Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or MN Dream Act Application must be submitted to the federal processing center by the established deadline date in order to be considered for Minnesota State Grant funding. If you miss the deadline, you will not be eligible for a Minnesota State Grant.
- 2024-2025 Deadline: The 2024-25 deadline is November 30, 2024 due to a state grant funding shortfall. 2024-25 FAFSA submissions after November 30, 2024 will not be considered for MN State Grant eligibility, including the summer 2025 term.
- 2025-2026 Deadline: The 2025-26 deadline is July 31, 2025 for the fall 2025 and spring 2026 terms. 2025-26 FAFSA submissions after July 31, 2025 will not be considered for MN State Grant eligibility. It has not been determined if the MN State Grant funding will be available for the summer 2026 term.
Prorated
Your Minnesota State Grant may be prorated if you enroll in fewer than 15 credits a semester.
